Program Overview

  • Suitable for puppies between 12-18 weeks. Focuses on jumping, nipping, potty training, crate training, desensitization & basic obedience. Perfect for new dog owners and puppy adoptions.

  • Suitable for dogs 5 months & older who display minor behavioral issues. Focuses on obedience, dog psychology, on-leash training, socialization, desensitization, place command, & house manners.

  • Suitable for dogs 5 months & older who are in need of behavioral rehabilitation. Focuses on teaching owners how to identify & remedy nipping/biting, fearfulness, aggression, resource guarding, & other behavioral triggers.

  • Welcome back to the pack! This program is intended for returning pack members looking to brush up on their dog’s training and obedience.

  • We offer virtual lessons to those outside our territories that cannot travel to us in Thousand Oaks to train. We cover all of our normal training via zoom.

  • Our Trainer-Only programs are ideal for busy dog owners with tight schedules. Our expert trainers will come to your home up to 3 times per week to work solely with your dog followed by weekly, personalized sessions that teaches you the essential skills, making training effortless and stress-free without sacrificing long-term results.

    Charlie, Hudson, and staff have been wonderful at training our Aussie/Healer puppy. They train with kind persistence which has changed the behavior of our smart dog. Then they trained us so that we can understand our dog’s behavior and learn to work with him with kindness. My frustration when we go for walks has dissipated and we are now enjoying our outdoor time. They make training your dog fun. And, I highly recommend you start training your dog by sending him/her to K-9 University camp for a couple of weeks. It was definitely worth the commitment and the difference was pronounced whenever our puppy would come home from camp. I love these guys and the results have been life changing for us.

  • I have a 2-year-old American Pitbull rescue who had been treated poorly and attacked by another dog. You can imagine he was scared of people and other dogs this made him very reactive. I decided to take him to train at a local pet place, but it didn’t help - The second step was boarding, and after looking and interviewing with a few places, K9 University was the right choice. After getting Cain (my dog) back from boarding, I was happy to have my same sweet boy back but with more confidence. The work K9 University did is fantastic, and I am so glad I came across their page when I did. I cannot recommend them enough.

    We adopted Ripley, who turned out to be very fearful and reactive to any visitors that came by, and he was a serious biting threat. Hudson and Charlie were phenomenal in teaching us how to work with him to correct the bad behaviors, but also how to introduce him to new people (and dogs) in a calm and safe manner. The change has been nothing short of miraculous! Their in-home training was exactly what we needed to put Ripley, and us, at complete ease.

  • There’s no one I would trust more with my dog. Every single trainer at K9 University is incredible. My dog is very anxious and cautious, especially with people. We worked with Charlie and Hudson when she was first a puppy and learned a lot of basics, we returned to help create a system where our dog has an expectation of what happens when people come over, so she doesn’t have to feel so anxious all the time. K9 University helped train us for our dog, and honestly helped me understand her so much better. We love k9 University!!!! Will always come back and will always sing the praises of this great group of people.

  • We brought our dog Toasty to camp to help with her reactivity towards dogs. The whole k9 university team was so great. They gave us the right tools and clear instructions on how to handle different difficult situations when walking her or introducing her to other dogs. They have further helped her gain a calmer state of mind and better impulse control. They have helped us to be clearer in our commands with her. Even after camp we have several training practices we have been implementing that have been so useful. You can tell they all love dogs, are passionate about what they do and were always kind and patient towards our dog and with us as well. They were always happy to answer questions or give a refresher and to help walk us through unique situations like introducing our family dogs.
